Ryan-Thomas Shaw / Android Authority
In October 2023 we saw two major smartphones announced in the mid-price range. The first is the OnePlus 8T, the newest “T” refresh of the OnePlus 8 lineup. The second is the iPhone 12, the latest in Apple’s long-running iOS smartphone series. So, we decided to pit the OnePlus 8T vs iPhone 12.

Inside, the OnePlus 8T has the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor included in the earlier OnePlus 8 phone. The company is releasing two models; one with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and another with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The iPhone 12, on the other hand, includes the new A14 Bionic processor with a six-core CPU and a four-core GPU. It has 4GB of RAM, and it’s available in 64, 128, and 256GB storage options. Neither phone offers expandable storage, and neither has a headphone jack.
The regular unlocked OnePlus 8T supports sub-6GHz 5G networks. The T-Mobile exclusive OnePlus 8T Plus adds support for the carrier’s normal 600MHz 5G network and its more recent nationwide 2.5GHz network. The iPhone 12 also supports sub-6GHz 5G, but the US versions are the only ones to throw in support for millimeter-wave (mmWave) 5G networks.

The OnePlus 8T comes with Android 11 out of the box, along with the company’s Oxygen 11 skin. This new version of OxygenOS makes the phone look and act much less like a near-stock Android phone compared to previous OnePlus handsets. That includes adding a new OnePlus Sans font, a new Always On Display, along with improvements to Dark Mode and Zen Mode. OnePlus has promised at least two major Android OS updates for the OnePlus 8T, along with an extra year for security updates.

The iPhone 12 ships with iOS 14. It includes new features like supporting widgets on the phone’s home screen, along with the App Library that helps to better organize a user’s phone apps. It also adds picture-in-picture support for watching videos or conducting FaceTime calls, while continuing to use another app on the phone. Apple has an excellent track record of supporting previous iPhones with new OS updates for years, and we don’t think this will change with the iPhone 12.Price
8GB/128GB — £549/42,999 Rs
12GB/256GB — £649/$749/45,999 Rs
64GB – $799/£799/€909
256GB – $949/£949/€1,079
The OnePlus 8T is now available to purchase. The US only has the 12GB/256GB version available, for $749. Other parts of the world can purchase the 8GB/128GB version for £549 in the UK, which is $709 in the US.
The iPhone 12 is now on sale as well. Pricing for the iPhone 12 starts at $749 for the 64GB version.
Better than the OnePlus 8, but still not as good as the OnePlus 8 Pro
The latest flagship from OnePlus features some relatively subtle upgrades over the OnePlus 8. However, it does feature a huge new feature: Warp Charge 65, which will allow the 8T to charge faster than any other OnePlus phone.

OnePlus 8T vs iPhone 12: Which should you buy?
In our review of the OnePlus 8T, we did note a number of its solid features. Those include its larger 120Hz display, its support for the fast 65W battery charger, and having Android 11 ship out of the box with the Oxygen 11 skin. Having a phone that costs $50 less than the iPhone 12 but one that offers twice as much storage as its lower price rival is something to consider. However, it’s disappointing that only the T-Mobile OnePlus 8T Plus model has an IP68 rating.
That’s our look at the OnePlus 8T vs iPhone 12.Which phone would you choose?

What is the price? The OnePlus Nord N30 costs $299 when purchased unlocked in the US, or you can get it for $264 from T-Mobile.
Where can you buy it? You can pick up the OnePlus Nord N30 unlocked from the OnePlus website starting on June 15, 2023, and from Amazon or Best Buy. The phone is also available at T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile.
How did we test it? I tested the OnePlus Nord N30 for 10 days. The review unit was supplied by OnePlus.
Is it worth it? If you’re after an affordable Android phone with speedy wireless charging and a solid primary camera, the OnePlus Nord N30 is worth a look. It delivers excellent battery life and keeps features like expandable storage and a headphone jack to help you wring the most value out of your $299. However, the weak update commitment and underwhelming peripheral cameras limit the Nord N30’s long-term prospects.
Should you buy the OnePlus Nord N30?
Ryan Haines / Android Authority
The OnePlus Nord N30 hopes to condense the most important parts of the premium OnePlus experience into a value package. It checks the boxes for Oxygen OS, speedy SuperVOOC wired charging, and a sharp primary camera while cutting a few corners to keep the price in check. OnePlus even managed to keep the Nord N30’s price pegged to that of its predecessor, floating right under the $300 barrier.
Unlike most budget phones, which tend to crib their designs from flagship counterparts, the OnePlus Nord N30 stands on its own. It sports a fingerprint-loving glossy plastic back panel with a matte — but color-matching — frame, paired with the sweeping 6.72-inch Panda Glass display and its 120Hz refresh rate. Instead of the bulky camera bump that marks the last few OnePlus flagships, the Nord N30 carries each of its three lenses in small circular cutouts that give the phone a much cleaner look. OnePlus hasn’t followed the popular trend of stacking buttons on one side, either. The power button and fingerprint reader are on the right side, while the volume buttons hold down the left edge. The Nord N30 also has a headphone jack on the bottom edge and expandable microSD storage in the SIM slot.
Google Pixel 6a ($314 at Amazon): While it’s a year older, the newly-reduced Pixel 6a offers plenty of flagship features that the Nord N30 can’t match. It has a flagship-grade Tensor chip inside, which offers significantly more image processing punch, and Google’s update commitment easily beats that of OnePlus.
Motorola Moto G Power 5G ($249 at Amazon): Motorola brought 5G to its Moto G Power for the first time and created a Nord N30 rival in the process. The Moto G Power 5G is more durable than the Nord thanks to its IP52 rating, its battery will go the distance, and its 256GB of storage out of the box means you can wait longer before tapping into its expandable storage.
OnePlus Nord N300 ($228 at OnePlus): If you’re after the most affordable OnePlus experience, the Nord N300 is a good starter smartphone. It drops the dedicated macro camera and doesn’t offer quite as much storage, but the 33W wired charging still outpaces Samsung and Motorola. You’ll save a bit more money, but you’ll also have to make do with a 90Hz refresh rate, HD+ resolution, and the same underwhelming update support.
No, there’s no option for wireless charging on the OnePlus Nord N30, though it does support 50W wired charging.
The OnePlus Nord N30 does not offer an IP rating for water and dust resistance.
Yes, the OnePlus Nord N30 supports NFC for wireless payments.
The OnePlus Nord N30 doesn’t have a dedicated memory card slot, though it supports a microSD card in its SIM tray.

The Google Pixel 6 Pro has enjoyed a few months as one of the best big Android phones around. Now, there’s new competition in the form of Samsung’s latest phablet, the Galaxy S22 Ultra. While it may not feel like a proper Galaxy S device, the latest Ultra is gunning for the top slot all the same. We’re here to help you decide which beast of a device is right for you in our Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra vs Pixel 6 Pro showdown.
In this comparison, we’re sticking with the two most premium devices. We’ve compared the Google Pixel 6, Samsung Galaxy S22, and Galaxy S22 Plus in a battle of their own.

The Contour Cut camera system on the Galaxy S21 Ultra was one of our favorites of the whole year, and Samsung fans will be pleased to know that not much has changed. All four lenses are back with identical measurements, which means the 108MP primary sensor is back for another year. It’s flanked by 10MP periscope telephoto, 10MP telephoto, and 12MP ultrawide options, with a sharp 40MP shooter mounted to the display.
All told, you should be able to achieve 10x optical zoom with Samsung’s periscope telephoto and 3x optical zoom with the traditional telephoto. Fans of Samsung’s cameras should be pretty happy for another year.
Both the Pixel 6 Pro and Galaxy S22 Ultra support USB PD PPS, but Samsung pushes for much faster charging speeds.
Samsung is no stranger to the 5,000mAh battery, which is back for another year on the Galaxy S22 Ultra. It relies on the USB PD PPS standard, but you can push it to 45W instead of the 25W limit on the Galaxy S21 series. As for wireless charging, the Galaxy S22 Ultra stops at 15W speeds.
Neither the Pixel 6 Pro nor the Galaxy S22 Ultra offers a charger in the box, so you might have to buy a new one to reach the top speeds.

When it comes to performance, Samsung’s flagship offers the newer Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor in the US compared to Google’s Tensor chip. On paper, the Gen 1 offers a huge performance boost over Tensor, though Google’s machine learning smarts provide the brains for Pixel-specific features. Other markets will receive Samsung’s own Exynos 2200 chipset instead. You can read more about how the Snapdragon and Tensor processors compare in our deep dive.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra vs Google Pixel 6 Pro: Price and colors
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (8/128GB): $1,199
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (8/128GB): $1,199
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (8/128GB): $1,199
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (8/128GB): $1,199
Google Pixel 6 Pro (12/128GB): $899
Google Pixel 6 Pro (12/256GB): $999
Google Pixel 6 Pro (12/512GB): $1,099
While Samsung didn’t find a way to lower prices from the Galaxy S21 series, it hasn’t raised them, either. We’ll count it as a small victory that the Galaxy S22 Ultra still starts at $1,199, though it comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Jumping to 12GB and 256GB will cost you $1,299, or 12GB and 512GB will set you back $1,399. Samsung now offers a 1TB version of its massive phablet with a price tag to match at $1,599.

Out of the box, the Apple AirPods Pro (2nd generation) sound much better than the Google Pixel Buds Pro. Apple’s sound profile works well with all music genres. The AirPods Pro 2 handle busy choruses well. The earbuds’ bass response still allows vocals and higher-pitched instruments to sound clear. This isn’t the case with the Pixel Buds Pro.
Pixel Buds Pro vs AirPods Pro 2: Microphone quality
In ideal conditions, both microphone systems are very good and relay clear audio. The AirPods Pro 2 make voices sound a bit louder than the Pixel Buds Pro. Toward the end of the AirPods Pro 2 microphone demo below, audio cutouts accompany that extra volume boost.
Google Pixel Buds Pro microphone demo (Ideal conditions):
Google Pixel Buds Pro microphone demo (Office conditions):
AirPods Pro (2nd generation), ANC on: Five hours, 43 minutes.
Pixel Buds Pro, ANC on: Seven hours, six minutes.
Unlike the Google Pixel Buds Pro, the AirPods Pro 2 have battery optimization to extend the life of the AirPods’ battery cells. This feature prevents the buds from charging past 80% until you need to use them. To use this feature, you need a device running iOS 15+ or iPadOS15+. It will take some time for your iPhone or iPad to learn your listening habits.
In our testing, we found the Pixel Buds Pro had slightly better battery than the second-gen AirPods Pro.
Fast-charging Google’s or Apple’s earbuds for five minutes will net one hour of playtime. The Pixel Buds Pro and AirPods Pro 2 cases support Qi wireless charging, but Apple takes it a step further by making its case MagSafe-compatible. For wired charging, you’ll need a USB-C cable with the Pixel Buds Pro and a Lightning cable with the AirPods Pro (2nd generation).

After launching an updated MacBook Air with the new Magic Keyboard back in March, Apple released its new 13-inch MacBook Pro today with the same improved keyboard and a few other updates. Not sure which MacBook to pick up? Read on for a detailed MacBook Pro vs MacBook Air comparison to make the right decision.
The headline features of the new 2023 13-inch MacBook Pro are a doubling of the base storage (now 256GB) and the switch from the butterfly keys to the more reliable scissor switch Magic Keyboard. That means the whole MacBook lineup now features the tried and true Magic Keyboard. However, there are a few other hardware updates with the new MacBook Pro worth considering before making a decision.
While rumors suggested this update could have landed with a larger 14-inch screen size, that didn’t end up in the cards this time around but there are a number of small tweaks like up to 32GB of RAM and available 10th gen Intel quad-core processors (although it’s, unfortunately, the 8th-gen Intel chips for the lower-priced 13-inch 2023 MacBook Pro models).I/O
Same as the previous gen, compared to the MacBook Air, you’re getting the Touch Bar with the new 13-inch MacBook Pro and 4 USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports on the higher specced models compared to 2 on the Air.
Strangely enough, with the lower-priced 13-inch MacBook Pro models, you’re stuck with 8th gen Intel chips which mean no support for 6K displays (e.g. Pro Display XDR). So if future-proofing is important to you, make sure to upgrade to a 10th-gen chip.2024 MacBook Pro and MacBook Air I/O Comparison Hardware
On the hardware side beyond the curious Intel chip situation, we’re looking at a base SSD storage of 256GB with capacities going up to 4TB now for the high-end 13-inch models, both great new options for both the base and specced up models.
You can also custom order the 13-inch MacBook Pro with up to 32GB of RAM.
As for the FaceTime camera, it’s still got the same low-res 720p one as the Air and 16-inch Pro. And no Wi-Fi 6 here.
As for the higher-end 10th-gen Intel processor choices, you naturally do get more powerful options than the 10th gen 1.2GHz in the latest MacBook Air. Just make sure to choose carefully there for your needs and avoid the 8th gen chip models if you want to hold on to your machine for a while or would like 6K display support.
A couple more upgrades include the stereo speakers having “high dynamic range” as well as Dolby Atmos support like the 16-inch MacBook Pro. The triple-mic setup also has directional beamforming.2024 MacBook Pro and MacBook Air Hardware Comparison Display
For the 2023 13-inch MacBook Pro Retina display, the two main differentiators when compared to the MacBook Air are the 500 nits brightness (400 for Air) and P3 wide color support.2024 MacBook Pro and MacBook Air Display Comparison Battery Life
The new 13-inch MacBook Pro lands with up to 10 hours battery life for wireless web and movie playback. That’s 1-2 hours below the MacBook Air and 16-inch MacBook Pro.2024 MacBook Pro and MacBook Air Battery Life Comparison Dimensions
For dimensions, the new 13-inch MacBook Pro is just slightly thicker and heavier than the previous version (thickness increase due to the Magic Keyboard).MacBook Pro and MacBook Air Dimensions Comparison Wrap-up
Now that Apple’s entire MacBook lineup has been updated with the reliable Magic Keyboard, it’s a great time to upgrade your Mac.
Weighing the defining features of the 2023 13-inch MacBook Pro like the Touch Bar, up to 32GB of RAM, brighter screen with P3 wide color, and more powerful 10th gen Intel chip options should help you narrow down which MacBook is right for you.
But for a lot of use cases, the 2023 MacBook Air offers a great value that should handle average computing needs with plenty of power and speed. The MacBook Pro definitely has its place but you’ll likely only need it if you’re doing more demanding tasks like video editing and rendering, working with big data sets, and other similar intensive workflows.

Older vs newer programming languages the choice is the users’ depending on needs and factors
Programming Languages have evolved significantly in both industry and research over the last few decades. Today there are a wide variety of programming languages with different syntax and features. The Older vs Newer Programming languages and the question of what to learn to depend on the specific needs and goals of users.
Older programming language’s performance can vary, especially in low-level system access and computational tasks. C is a low-level programming language that provides direct access to hardware and memory. Assembly is known for its extremely high performance, as it provides developers with complete control over the computer’s hardware. FORTRAN was designed specifically for scientific and engineering applications, making it very performant for tasks that require complex calculations and data manipulation
Older programming languages have a long history of industry usage, and many of them are still widely used today. It is used in industries like finance, science and engineering, government, defense, etc.
Older programming languages are known for their stability due to established standards, wide usage, minimal changes, and compatibility with existing systems. These factors ensure that code written in these languages is compatible with different platforms and operating systems, and bugs and issues can be quickly identified and fixed. Older programming languages are reliable and consistent over time, making them ideal for critical systems and applications that require stability and predictability.
Older programming languages can be more difficult to learn and use compared to newer languages due to their outdated syntax and limited features. These languages often require more low-level programming and lack modern concepts such as object-oriented programming. Additionally, the lack of modern tools and resources can make development and debugging more challenging.
While older programming languages are still used in many industries, they are not as in demand as newer ones. If you want to maximize your job opportunities, it might be better to focus on learning newer programming languages.Newer Programming Languages:
Newer programming languages are easy to learn and use compared to old languages. The user-friendly language has a simple syntax and is designed to be more intuitive.
Job opportunities are more available for developers proficient in new programming. Additionally, this high-demand language is often used in emerging industries like data science and machine learning, which offer high-paying jobs.
Adopting a newer programming language may require more resources and maintenance costs, such as upgrading hardware or software systems, retraining staff, or updating existing codebases.
Newer programming languages and frameworks may have more security vulnerabilities due to their less mature ecosystems and lack of testing.
As newer programming languages are not always backward-compatible, developers may encounter compatibility issues when trying to integrate new code with existing systems.
