If you are a big Age of Empires fan and have loved the current collection of games, you’ll probably want to get in as early as you can to play Age of Empires IV. With a release date now set in October, this is the last chance to provide your feedback to the developer team behind AOE 4 and get a chance to be one of the first people to play Age of Empires 4.

If you are intending to play on a PC, you’ll need to upload some extra data, your dxdiag data to be precise. This is basically a log of your system hardware specs.

To do this, open the Run tool by pressing Windows Key + R then type dxdiag into the window and press Enter.

The tool will spend a little time getting everything in order and generate a file with all the information you need. When you have the file on your computer upload it to the Age of Empires beta form when requested. While you are filling out the form make sure you fill out every single section, the more data you are will to part with, the more likely you are going to get into the beta.

How To Sign Up For An Apple News+ Subscription On Your Ios Device

Apple introduced its News app with the release of iOS 9, which featured a coverage of current events curated by editors and specifically personalized for users. The app and its features were well-received by users who liked the layout and news coverage offered by the app.

We reported late last year that Apple was possibly gearing up to launch paid subscriptions for Apple News. This was finally released at a recent launch event in late March. Named “Apple News +,” this paid subscription service allows both newspapers and magazines to be offered, to be read on any Apple device. The subscription costs $9.99 and is currently only available in the United States and Canada, but should be released soon in other countries too.

The subscription gives users access to paid newspaper services (such as the Washington Post) alongside a number of magazines. The service features magazines from the National Geographic, Popular Science, New Yorker, Vogue, Rolling Stone, Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal, etc. Unfortunately, the service is available on Apple devices only, meaning if you want to use Apple News+ on an Android device or Windows laptop, it’s currently not possible. This is in contrast to Apple’s other subscription service, Apple Music, that allows you to access your music library from a variety of devices.

If you haven’t used Apple News before, we’d suggest you try it out before you decide to purchase the subscription. There are a ton of free newspapers available in the app by default, so you can get a feel of how the app works, what’s the interface is like, and see if digital news is really for you or not. Apple is also offering a one-month free trial for Apple News+, so you can try it out before fully committing to the service.

If you do not currently reside in the United States or Canada but still want to try out Apple News on your device, first follow the steps below to change your device’s region:

Select United States.

The region of your device will change, and you’ll now see the News app on your home screen.

To start an Apple News+ trial (and subsequent subscription) on your iPhone/iPad, simply follow the steps outlined below:

Open the Apple News app on your iOS device.

In the options along the bottom, select News+.

Tap on “Try it Free.”  This will enable the initial 30-day trial period before the actual subscription starts.

Verify your Apple ID by logging in to your account or by using FaceID, and enter in any payment details if required. Once done, your trial period should automatically start, and you’ll be able to access various magazines and newspapers in the app.

Do remember that once you start the trial, the paid subscription service will start automatically and will charge your registered payment method after 30 days. Thus, if you don’t like the service during its trial and don’t think its for you, be sure to cancel the subscription to avoid being charged for it after the end of the trial period.

How To Make The Best Protest Sign

On April 22, scientists, science-lovers, and at least one official Science Guy will be gathering in Washington, D.C. for the March for Science. A week later, on April 29, the People’s Climate Movement will march in favor of action against climate change. If you plan to attend either event, you’ll want to voice your support for science. And that means designing the perfect sign.

Bigger is better, of course. Bold letters and ample surface area are key. Then there’s carrying it. At marches in DC, sticks are forbidden for safety reasons, which means science fans will need to get creative with their poster grips.

To help you plan, Popular Science spoke with Michele Demsky, an exec at poster company ArtSkills, about how to stock up on materials and plan out the perfect sign—and what to do with it when your arms (inevitably) get tired.

Choose your board wisely

Most people make their signs from either poster board or foamcore. Each option has its pros and cons, so your choice will really depend on personal preferences.

Poster board is cheaper, and you can roll it up to transport it more easily, although this may give the board a curve so it’s less likely to stay flat when you want it to. That roll-ability also means it’s more prone to flopping over. To bolster the less sturdy material, you can glue or tape flat wooden paint stirrers to the corners.

Foamcore is more expensive, but it’s also sturdier and more weather-resistant. “Foam board is stiff,” Demsky says, “and it’s so light you can hold it with your pinky.” A foam sign will stay upright more easily, and you can even add a three-dimensional attachment—say, a Styrofoam model of the Earth—without the edges flopping over. Because of this stiffness, however, it can be awkward to transport from place to place.

Can you handle this?

Once you’ve picked a material, you’ve got to figure out a way to carry it. “If you have a type of handle, it’s easier to hold onto,” says Demsky.

One solution is a product called an easel back, a self-sticking cardboard attachment you can press to poster boards to make them stand up on a surface. For our purposes, you can attach two easel backs to the back of your sign where you’ll want to hold it, fold them open, and trim the cardboard to make it comfortably fit your hands.

You can also attach two small, light rods to the bottom of your poster and hold them. Paint stirrers, for example, are available for free at hardware stores, and even a pair of cardboard paper towel tubes can support the weight of poster board or foamcore.

If you’d prefer to avoid attaching objects to your sign, then you should probably choose a foamcore base. It’s sturdy enough that you can cut out your own handles in the sides, the bottom, or both.

No matter which handles you use, holding up even the lightest sign for hours will tire out your arms. So you’ll want a plan B.

“Get some string, cut two holes in the top of your posterboard, and hang it around your neck,” Demsky says. “It’s the easiest way of taking a break.” You can even create a sandwich board by hanging one sign from your front and another from your back.

Get spacey

Your message won’t do much good if people can’t see it. “In order to get noticed, you have to plan,” Demsky says.

First, sketch out your words in pencil, using a ruler to keep your lines straight and ensure even spacing. Make sure that everything fits and is centered before you follow up with marker or paint. You can also play around with size and framing.

“What is it you want to say?” Demsky asks. “Make sure that word speaks loudly; it’s got to be the biggest. Framing something helps your eye land in the center.”

To make your words visible from a distance, letters should be large and boldly marked. If you’re working up close to the sign, say at a kitchen table, visibility can be difficult to determine. You may want to stand back some distance and see if your message will still be easily readable.

For maximum effect, Demsky recommends using stencils, or drawing bubble letters and then filling them in. For the less artistically inclined, there are stick-on poster letters, demonstrated below.

Color me visible

When you choose your materials, make sure to take color into consideration. “White and black is good contrast,” says Demsky, “but if you can get a rainbow or hot pink poster board, when you have a bright color, the eye normally will go to that.”

Bright colors, shimmering or glittering materials, even poster lights can draw more attention to your sign. But if the colors of your letters don’t contrast with the color of your board, your words will be harder to see. For example, using rainbow colors for your letters might be eye-catching, but if one of those colors is yellow, it will disappear against a white poster.

If the words are your biggest priority, go with black letters on a white poster (or white letters on a black poster). This combination will create the most legible message. To spruce up your sign, try black letters on a bright backdrop, or bright letters on a white background.

“If you’re using a rainbow board or a bright neon, black is your best bet for letters,” says Demsky. “Holographic neon letters look great on a white poster.” These options maintain a contrast between letters and board, which should make them legible—even if they’re not as stark as black-on-white.

Ten years ago, a college search typically began with a brochure mailed to a prospective student’s home or obtained from a guidance counselor. But today, most college searches begin anonymously on the Web.

To find and engage the interested students who start the search online, the Office of Admissions debuted its updated Web site yesterday, after nearly a year of preparation. The newly expanded site is rich in multimedia and features photographs, videos, and slide shows intended to provide an inside look at the BU experience.

“The old site was text-heavy, dated, and difficult to navigate,” says Kelly Walter, executive director of admissions. “The new site is much more exciting and intuitive. It’s extremely cutting-edge, and it accurately represents the personality of BU.”

Designed by the Office of New Media, the revamped site combines essential information about academics, student activities, and financial aid with interactive story-telling elements, such as videos and slide shows. “Our primary goal is to engage students in the BU community before they ever arrive on campus,” Walter says. “We want to show, not tell, them what it’s like to be a student at Boston University.”

Video is one the of the most effective ways to portray student life, says Jon Brousseau (CFA’08), lead designer and associate creative director of the Office of New Media. “We really did our homework and researched a lot of sites before settling on a design,” he says. “From a technological standpoint, we’re pretty far ahead of the curve. You don’t see that many other admissions sites using Flash.”

Each year, the admissions Web site generates about seven million hits and a million unique page views. “The new Web site will allow prospective students to do initial filtering without the cost, time, and expense of visiting Boston,” Walter says.

While the site includes basic information such as how to visit and how to apply and information on the different schools and colleges, it also includes videos that instruct prospective students how to apply for financial aid, how to write a college admissions essay, and how to choose a major.

Walter is particularly excited about a video section called “You at BU,” which follows current BU students around campus. “It’s a very candid look into student life,” she says, “and it’s clearly unscripted.”

The section is broken into three subcategories. “A Week in the Life” includes videos of students participating in everyday activities, from attending class lectures and eating lunch in the dining halls to working out at the FitRec Center and doing laundry. “After Class” delves into extracurricular activities, such as playing intramural sports and volunteering at the Community Service Center. And “Finding My Way” describes ways that students discover their niche at BU, whether through classes, friends, or an internship.

In total, Walter says, more than 40 students are profiled on the site.

“Their voices lend a real authenticity to the site,” she says. “Visiting it is definitely the next best thing to actually visiting the campus.”

Now that you have installed Streamlabs Chatbot and have a bot account, you can start the setup process.

Next, select your platform from the list in this caseTwitch. If you are using Restream just choose Twitch.

Here you will need to log in to your Twitch Bot account. (Not your main account) For me, that would be OKIHSAJ.

On this next page, sign in using your main Twitch account. For me, that will be JASHIKO_.

If you have entered all of your information correctly, you’ll be shown a screen similar to the one below. It should show that the [Bot Client] is successfully connected as well as a list of your moderators (if you have set some already). Below that it will show that the [Streamer Client] is successfully connected. That’s the entire Streamlabs Chatbot client setup.
