How To Recover Deleted Passwords On Iphone On Ios 17

What to know

With iOS 17, you can recover any password you recently deleted from your iPhone.

Deleted passwords will appear inside the “Recently Deleted” section on the Passwords screen.

You can recover any password you deleted within 30 days of deleting it.

Passwords you deleted before upgrading to iOS 17 won’t show up inside the Recently Deleted section.

What are Recently Deleted passwords on iOS 17?

iOS 17 offers a way to restore passwords that you deleted from your iPhone by offering a dedicated Recently Deleted section inside iOS settings. This allows you to recover passwords of apps and services that you may have deleted knowingly or accidentally by giving you a specific timeframe to regain access to them.

When you delete a password from your iPhone, iOS will send it to the “Recently Deleted” section instead of removing it permanently from your device. This way, you won’t lose your passwords forever, when clearing up multiple account passwords from your phone.

How to recover deleted passwords on iOS 17

Note: At the time of writing, iOS 17 is only available as a developer preview, so we suggest you wait for a beta or public release to avoid running into issues or bugs in the software.

Once iOS 17 has been installed, you can delete any password from your iPhone and recover them easily. To recover a password you deleted recently, open the Settings app on your iPhone.

Inside Settings, scroll down and select Passwords.

You’ll now be asked to authenticate your identity using Face ID or Touch ID.

Once you do that, you’ll arrive at the Passwords screen. Here, tap on Recently Deleted.

This will open the Recently Deleted screen on your iPhone. Here, you’ll see a list of passwords you deleted from your iPhone in the past 30 days.

If you wish to recover the password for a single account, tap on the website or app you want to recover from the Recently Deleted screen.

On the next screen, you’ll see the username and password for the selected app or website. To restore this password to your iPhone, tap on Recover.

iOS will move the selected password back to the “My Passwords” section of your iPhone.

If there are a bunch of passwords you wish to recover, you can restore them by first tapping on Select at the top right corner of the Recently Deleted screen.

When the screen goes into edit mode, select the accounts that you want to recover passwords for by tapping on them. When you select the desired accounts, you should see blue tick icons on their left.

Once you’ve selected the accounts to restore, tap on Recover at the bottom left corner.

The selected passwords will now move back into the Passwords screen on iOS.

For how long can I recover deleted passwords?

At the time of writing, Apple allows you to recover any passwords you deleted for up to 30 days since you deleted them on your device. Passwords exceeding this timeframe will no longer appear inside the Recently Deleted screen. The 30-day limit only applies to passwords you delete after installing the iOS 17 update. Any password you remove from your device before performing the update won’t appear in this section.

I don’t see a “Recently Deleted” section on my iPhone. Why?

You can view your recently deleted passwords on an iPhone inside the Passwords screen after you authenticate your identity using Face ID or Touch ID.

In case you’re unable to view or access the “Recently Deleted” section, it might be because:

You haven’t updated your iPhone to iOS 17 or newer.

The passwords you deleted date back to when your iPhone wasn’t running on iOS 17.

You are yet to delete a password on your iPhone. The Recently Deleted section only shows up if there are passwords you removed from your iPhone.

There are no passwords to recover, if it has been over 30 days since you last deleted a password. Since the passwords you delete from an iPhone only remain available for up to 30 days after removing them, you won’t see the Recently Deleted section if you haven’t deleted any passwords in the last 30 days.

That’s all you need to know about recovering deleted passwords on iOS 17.

Free Tools To Check Sd Card Speed And Capacity

SD and microSD cards are used for storage in a variety of devices. For example, you may move your offline Spotify playlist to an microSD card. Unfortunately, there are many fake SD and microSD cards floating around on the Internet. Even reputable online marketplaces like Amazon aren’t immune to the influx of useless cards being flogged to unsuspecting consumers. That’s why you need a fake SD card test to avoid getting scammed.

Common Types of Fake SD Cards

Sometimes these fake cards are from no-name brands; other times they’re counterfeits of recognizable and trusted brands. For instance, you might find a great deal on a SanDisk SD card, but in reality, it’s just a scam.

Either way, they scam buyers in one of two ways: by offering a brand name at an unbelievable discount or by offering a generic brand with a crazy amount of storage for nearly nothing. While the offers are tempting, these cards often only last for a few weeks or months before they stop working completely.

1. H2testw

H2testw has been around for a very long time and for good reason. This reliable tool is able to test the true capacity of an SD/microSD card, as well as the read/write speed of the drive. The only downside to H2testw is the fact that it is quite old. This means that the software has not been optimized to be used on larger-capacity drives. While H2testw will work on any size drive, it may take a bit longer to complete the test.

H2testw was originally developed by a German software engineer. As such, the website that hosts the fake SD card test software, as well as the software itself, is in German. However, don’t let that scare you. Downloading the installer from the website is self-explanatory, regardless of your German language skills. Once downloaded, simply run the installer. After the first run it will give users the option to use English as the default language. H2testw is only available on Windows; however, it can be run on Linux and Mac via a virtual machine.

2. FakeFlashTest

It should be noted that the “Quick Size Test” is destructive, meaning that any data on the card will be wiped. There is an option to test a card without resulting in data loss; however, it takes much more time to complete. We strongly suggest that you back up any data, regardless of which test you opt for.

3. ChipGenius

Unfortunately, selling fake or counterfeit SD cards is big business. This means that shady sellers are becoming more sophisticated, which allows them to cover their tracks. As a result, ChipGenius won’t be able to sniff out every fake card floating around on the Web, just the poorly programmed ones.

4. Blackmagic Disk Speed Test

If you’re a Mac owner and want to verify your SD cards, Blackmagic Disk Speed Test is for you. This free utility was designed to test the speed of larger drives; however, it will also work as a fake SD card test. The only downside is that Blackmagic Disc Speed Test was designed for people working with large files, such as video clips.

5. AJA System Test

AJA System Test helps check SD card speed on both Windows and Mac for free. It’s not only simple to use, but also provides detailed graphs to see if performance is consistent or not. If there’s a major fluctuation, there’s likely something wrong with the card. Of course, if you’re testing older cards, this could also be an indicator that it’s starting to go bad.

6. Speed Out

Speed Out is a super simple portable SD card speed tester. All you have to do is download it and run it directly from the folder. It writes temporary files to your SD card to determine the read and write speeds. It’s only available for Windows. While it’s an older tool, it’s still quite effective for quickly testing SD card speeds without any extra features or settings to deal with.

If you want to see more detail, this probably isn’t the best tool to use. However, if you want something to put on a flash drive to use on various computers, it’s a great option.

7. Flash Memory Toolkit

While Flash Memory Toolkit is a premium tool that costs $39.95, you get an unlimited free trial period where most of the features work with no issues. There’s no credit card necessary to download the trial version. For testing SD cards, you’ll want to use the Low-Level Benchmark tool to see the read and write speeds.

The toolkit is actually a mixture of six tools. You can also use Error Scan and File Benchmark tools to further check if the card has any issues. Fake SD cards often have errors, which reduces the capacity and speed even more. I could use all three of these tools fully in the free trial version.

How can I be sure I’m buying a real SD card?

Ideally, stick with the following brands:

Avoid buying from third-party sellers. For example, if you’re shopping on Amazon, buy directly from Amazon or the SD card brand’s Amazon store. Amazon is full of fakes, so read the reviews carefully before ordering.

Another option is to buy from a brick-and-mortar store. While you’ll find the occasional damaged card, most are legitimate.

Frequently Asked Questions Are refurbished SD cards reliable?

Never buy a refurbished or used SD card. This not only opens you up to wasting money on a fake or damaged card, but it could also lead to malware that’s secretly stored on the device.

SD cards wear out over time just like any type of storage device. If it’s refurbished, the life left and storage capacity are significantly reduced and it’s likely been damaged in some way.

Learn more about how SD cards work and how they differ from SSDs.

Is it safe to buy SD cards from Amazon?

Yes. Just stick with authorized sellers. For instance, when I search for a SanDisk SD card, I had numerous results. Some looked almost identical to SanDisk, but were priced much lower. The authorized seller was the listing that said “SanDisk Store” underneath the product name. Plus, it was rated 4.8 out of 5.

Why does my antivirus block some free SD card speed check tools?

Some antivirus tools view any apps that want read/write access to your storage devices as PUPs, or potentially unwanted programs. If you’re ever uncertain about whether an app is safe or not, scan the website and download URLs through VirusTotal. You can also search for “is toolname safe” to see if any other users have had issues with it. All apps on this list have been scanned with VirusTotal.

Macos Catalina: How To Backup Photos And Videos With Icloud Photos

9to5Mac is brought to you by CleanMyMac X. Find hidden junk, large old folders, unused apps, and heavy memory consumers. You can also use CleanMyMac X to remove malware, unwanted pop-ups, and virus extensions.

Photos and videos are some of our most precious digital data that we never want to lose. That’s why macOS Catalina includes the Photos app with a built-in service for backing up your photo library. iCloud Photos is the easiest way to manage your personal photo library.

How it works

iCloud Photos syncs photos and videos between all your devices including edits and albums. For example, you take a photo on your iPhone, it automatically appears on your iPad or Mac.

Apple’s cloud photo library manager isn’t just great for syncing one library between all your devices. It’s also a great backup feature too.

What you need to know

iCloud Photos works with your Apple ID so your identity is the same across all your devices. This is usually the same email and password that you use for the App Store.

The feature is part of Apple’s iCloud service. That means iCloud Photos uses Apple’s cloud storage and not on-device storage — although it can use both.

The important thing to know is that you need to have enough iCloud storage to hold your iCloud Photos library. When you start using iCloud Photos, your iPhone or iPad storage is no longer a limitation.

Most users will need to pay a monthly fee for enough cloud storage to use iCloud Photos. The right tier depends on the size of your photo library, and you can always change plans at any time.

Storage Plans

iCloud storage plans and rates vary from country to country. In the United States, plans range from 99¢ per month to $9.99 per month. Here is each option, billed monthly:

Free — 5GB

$0.99 — 50GB

$2.99 — 200GB

$9.99 — 2TB

You can view plans from around the world here to see current plans and prices where you live. Don’t know how much storage you need? iCloud will alert you if you need more storage so it’s okay to start small.

Getting started

Here’s how to turn on iCloud Photos on iPhone or iPad:

Open the Settings app

Tap your name at the top of the list

Tap iCloud → Photos → Toggle on iCloud Photos

Repeat this process on each of your devices to start syncing your libraries. Be sure to have the latest software update and the same Apple ID for iCloud on each device.

iCloud Photos also works with the Photos app on the Mac:

Open System Preferences

Select iCloud

Toggle on iCloud Photos

Managing storage

What if you don’t have enough space on your iPhone for your photo library? iCloud Photos has a feature for that too.

iCloud Photos includes an option to save each photo and video locally to your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. This requires more device storage in addition to iCloud storage.

The benefit is that you can access iCloud Photos instantly without an internet connection, but larger libraries will take up a lot of device storage.

If you don’t have enough iPhone, iPad, or Mac storage for your entire photo library, iCloud Photos includes an option to optimize storage. Photos and videos are still accessible from the Photos app anytime, but you need an internet connection to view full resolution images.

If you have a Mac that stays online and powered up, you can even save photos to external storage that backs up to Time Machine for an extra layer of redundancy.

What happens if you accidentally delete a photo? iCloud Photos will delete that photo on all your devices, but you have up to 40 days to recover the photo from the Recently Deleted section in the Photos app.

Personally, I’ve been an iCloud Photos user since the feature launched in 2014. I trust the service with nearly 35,000 photos and videos and growing — including memories of both of my kids, vacations, and more.

iCloud Photos doesn’t just sync and backup photos and videos captured from my iPhone. My library includes imported photos and videos from other cameras and video cameras. I trust iCloud Photos to be my one, true photo library over all other systems, and the iPhone, iPad, and Mac integration is unbeatable.
