Suggested March 2024 Apple Mouse Not Charging (Causes And Fixes)

The Apple Mouse lasts an impressive 7-8 hours after a quick 2-min charge and up to a full week after a full charge which takes about an hour or so.

The absence of charging LED indicator on the Apple mouse makes it difficult to figure out if the device actually charging or not. Also, there may be several underlining issues within the device itself.

In this article, we explain where things might have gone wrong and how you can fix the charging issue.

There are various reasons behind the mouse not charging. Some of the most common ones are as follows.

Faulty charging cable

Dirty/damaged charging port

Charging source issues

Physical damage to the mouse, cable, or the port

Batteries worn out or dead

Since your apple mouse isn’t charging, we assume you are using the Apple Mouse 2 with the built-in rechargeable battery.

Sometimes it’s just a minor bug, and turning it on and off may get the mouse charging normally again.

Nonetheless, continue reading the article for several other fixes.

While there could be serious issues behind the mouse not charging, ensure you are doing it right.

First, ensure you have turned on the power outlet button and the charging cable isn’t loosely connected. Alternatively, use a different power outlet and see if it works.

On the other hand, if you have connected the mouse to your Mac, its USB could be faulty. So, try changing the USB port to charge your mouse.

Any form of physical damage is a tell-tale sign of an Apple mouse failing to charge. So, check for physical damage on the mouse, lighting cable, or USB port.

The apple charging cables are notoriously known to break quite easily. On top of it, the location of the mouse’s charging port is unconventionally set to the bottom, making it easier for the lightning cable to damage even sooner.

So, check if any part of the lighting cable is torn/twisted. Sometimes the damage is internal and not visible from the outside. Therefore, consider using another cable; if it works, the cable is most probably damaged.

If it’s been a while since you cleaned up the mouse, the dirt could prevent your mouse from charging properly.

More specifically, you should look for dust and debris stuck inside the mouse’s charging port. Clear out the dirt using a toothpick/Q-tip. But, proceed with caution.

Likewise, you can use compressed air or blow inside the port to remove the dirt.

Even though the mouse’s batteries last longer (generally more than a year), the battery will eventually wear out and can no longer be charged.

And while you can easily change the AA batteries in the Magic Mouse 1, the Magic Mouse 2 has a non-removable Lithium-ion battery attached to it.

Still, you could use a screwdriver to remove its cover and replace the battery. But, since you could damage it while doing so, consider taking a professional’s help.

If the charging problem persists, you can take the mouse to one of Apple’s repair centers.

Furthermore, if you bought the mouse recently, you could ask the shop owner to repair/exchange the mouse. But make sure its warranty period isn’t over yet.

Also, if you bought the mouse with the Mac computer, AppleCare will most likely cover the mouse too.

As a final option, you could consider buying a new mouse too.

Since the Apple Mouse 2 doesn’t have any charging indicator, you need to manually check if it’s charging or how much charge is left on it.

Anyway, you can check the battery level as follows.

Wireless Mouse Not Working? 17 Things To Check

Remove and reconnect the USB receiver to a different port on your computer. Ideally, you should avoid connecting it to any externals USB hubs; insert it into a port directly on the computer instead.

If that doesn’t help and your wireless mouse is still not working, you may want to troubleshoot the USB ports on your PC.

6. Restart Computer

Have you tried restarting your computer yet? Usually, that alone resolves most issues. Open the Start menu (press the Windows key if the mouse appears frozen), select Power, and choose Restart to perform a reboot.

7. Remove Other USB Peripherals

In some cases, computer peripherals such as flash drives, scanners, and printers connected via USB can prevent your wireless mouse from working properly. Try removing them.

If that helped, reconnect the USB peripherals one-by-one to isolate the device causing the problems.

8. Control Cursor Speed

If your wireless mouse acts too slow or too fast, check that the speed settings are up to scratch. Press Windows+S, type mouse settings, and select Open. Then, use the slider under Cursor speed to increase or decrease the cursor speed.

If you continue to have issues with your mouse, however, it’s worth searching the manufacturer’s website for any dedicated drivers or support software. Install them and see if that helps.

14. Disable Fast Startup

Windows 10 comes with a feature called Fast Startup that allows the operating system to launch faster from a cold boot. However, it can also cause issues with wireless mice. Disable it and see if that helps.

1. Press Windows+X and select Power Options.

2. Select Additional Power Settings.

3. Select Choose what the power buttons do.

4. Select Change settings that are currently unavailable.

5. Uncheck the box next to Turn on fast startup (recommended).

6. Restart your computer.

The latest Windows 10 updates contain bug fixes that can resolve various issues with your computer. It can also help when your wireless mouse is not working. If you haven’t updated your computer in a while, then do it now.

Press Windows+S, type windows updates, and select Open. Then, select the Check for Updates button and install any pending updates.

Additionally, select Optional Updates (if the option’s visible) and install any listed hardware driver updates.

3. Select Uninstall Updates.

Did that fix the issue? If so, you should defer Windows updates until the next incremental or feature update hits the shelves.

If none of the fixes above worked, you could restore Windows 10 to an earlier state where your wireless mouse worked without issues. Provided that your computer has the System Protection functionality enabled, you can use System Restore to do that.

1. Press Windows+S, type system protection, and select Create a restore point.

2. Switch to the System Protection tab and select System Restore.

3. Work your way through the System Restore wizard and restore your computer using an available system restore point.

One of the most common reasons for login issues with ChatGPT is incorrect login credentials. If you’re unable to log in, it’s possible that you’re entering the wrong username or password. Therefore, it’s important to double-check your login credentials and make sure you’re entering the correct information.

First, check if you are entering the correct username and password. Sometimes, users might have multiple accounts with different login credentials, so ensure that you are using the correct one for the account you are trying to access.

Once you have reset your password, make sure to enter the new password correctly. It’s important to note that passwords are case sensitive, so ensure that you are entering it correctly.

Clearing your browser’s cache and cookies is another solution to try if you’re having trouble logging in to ChatGPT. Sometimes, the cache and cookies stored in your browser can cause login issues, so it’s important to clear them to ensure a fresh login attempt. The cache and cookies can be cleared by going to the settings or options menu of your browser and finding the option to clear browsing data. Once you’ve cleared your cache and cookies, try logging in to ChatGPT again to see if the issue has been resolved. If clearing your cache and cookies doesn’t work, you can move on to trying other solutions to fix the login issue.

If you’re having trouble logging in to ChatGPT, it could be due to a specific issue with your browser. Some browsers may not be compatible with ChatGPT or may have issues with their cookies and cache, which can cause login problems. In this case, trying a different browser like Firefox or Chrome can help.

To switch to a different browser, simply download and install it on your device. Then, open the new browser and navigate to the ChatGPT website to try logging in again. If this solves the issue, it’s likely that the problem was specific to your previous browser.

Keep in mind that if you’re still experiencing issues after trying a different browser, the problem may not be related to your browser at all. In that case, you may need to try other solutions like checking your internet connection or contacting ChatGPT support for further assistance.

If you’re experiencing login issues with ChatGPT, it’s important to check your internet connection. Weak or unstable internet connections can cause problems with logging in. To resolve this issue, make sure your internet connection is strong and stable. You can do this by checking your device’s network settings, restarting your router or modem, or contacting your internet service provider (ISP) for assistance.

If you’re using a wireless connection, try moving closer to the router or access point to improve the signal strength. Additionally, try disconnecting other devices that may be using the same network to free up bandwidth.

Once you’ve checked and improved your internet connection, try logging in to ChatGPT again to see if the issue is resolved.

If you have tried all the above solutions and are still unable to log in to ChatGPT, it’s possible that the platform is experiencing server issues or downtime. In such cases, the servers may be temporarily unavailable, and you won’t be able to log in until the servers come back online. This can be frustrating, but it’s important to be patient and wait for the issue to be resolved.

To check if there are any server issues or downtime updates, you can visit the ChatGPT online FAQs section. Here, you may find information about any ongoing maintenance or server issues and estimated timeframes for when the service will be back online.

If you find that the ChatGPT servers are down, you’ll need to wait until they’re back online to access the service. During this time, you can try the above solutions again periodically or try accessing ChatGPT at a later time. It’s essential to avoid continuously attempting to log in as this may further overload the server and prolong the downtime.

If you’ve exhausted all the possible solutions listed above and are still unable to log in to ChatGPT, it’s best to reach out to their customer support team for further assistance. They may be able to provide additional solutions or escalate the issue to their technical team to resolve the problem. You can contact ChatGPT support through their website or app, or by email, phone, or live chat. Be sure to provide as much information as possible about the issue, including any error messages you may have received and what troubleshooting steps you’ve already tried. This will help the support team understand the problem and provide an appropriate solution in a timely manner.

To verify if the ChatGPT servers are available, you can attempt to load the website and see if it opens correctly. In case you encounter difficulties accessing the website, you can look up social media platforms such as Twitter and Reddit for any indications of server outages or downtime. Alternatively, you can utilize websites such as Downdetector, which can provide details on the status of ChatGPT servers. If there are no reports of server problems, you can try deleting your browser’s cache and cookies or using a different browser to access ChatGPT.

In conclusion, login issues with ChatGPT can be frustrating, but there are several solutions you can try to resolve the issue. Double-check your login credentials, clear your browser’s cache and cookies, try a different browser, check your internet connection, and wait and try again later if all else fails. If you’re still having trouble logging in, contact ChatGPT support for further assistance. By following these solutions, you should be able to log in to ChatGPT and start using it.
