15 Best Castlevania Games Of All Time You Can Play

Castlevania is a horror, Metroidvania game which started off on the NES. Throughout the ages, there have been more than thirty iterations of Castlevania, some radically different than others. But almost all keep the core concept of Castlevania in mind. The game focuses on the fight against the evil forces. The games are extremely fun, with an amazing story, and if you’re a fan you can even check out the animated series based on the games on Netflix. Anyway, if you’re a fan of Castlevania, here’s a recap of the 15 best Castlevania games you can play in 2023.

Best Castlevania Games that You Can Play in 2023 1. Castlevania (NES)

This is the game which started it all. Castlevania started off on the NES and introduced us to the horror genre which was lacking at that time. This game had a gothic and dark atmosphere, with the main stage being Dracula’s castle. In this game, you are introduced to many of Dracula’s monsters, such as Bats, Frankenstein, Medusa and much more. You have to use your axe to stop Dracula’s reign of terror.

2. Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow (PS3, Xbox 360)

The game also has a decent story where you play as Gabriel, and defend the people against the dark lords. The game also mixes up some emotional story in the mix as well to make the game more diverse. Unlike the original, and other Castlevania games, a single castle is not the stage, but instead, the game progresses linearly from level to level, without any map. The game focuses heavily on action and combat and gives some abilities and extras to play around with. The game’s scenic beauty and the action make this an amazing game.

3. Castlevania: Bloodlines (Sega Genesis)

Bloodlines is another Castlevania game which is different from the original Castlevania idea. This was the first game to abandon Dracula’s castle. This game takes you around the globe to fight the Countess. The game also offers two different protagonists fighting across the globe. Both of these guys wield classic weapons and both the guys have unique abilities, and each level caters to both of their abilities.

The levels are simple, but fun, with various puzzles. Where Bloodlines shines is in its flashy battles and giant statues can be knocked down to create pathways, battering rams can be used to take down walls, and water can flood the level. The Boss battles are just as insane. With ambushes, and different types of bosses.

4. Castlevania 3: Dracula’s Curse (NES)

As you progress, you will be faced with various bosses, and on your way, you will be able to recruit the three other characters. But if you feel like not recruiting those characters, you can use the multiple paths to skip the level altogether. This is the beauty of the game as you can reach the final destination without the same path as another player.

5. Castlevania: Rondo Of Blood (TurboGrafx-16/PSP)

Rondo of Blood (aka Dracula X) is another great game in the Castlevania series. In this game, you play as the whip wielding Belmont. This game is like other Castlevania games, with a linear level system. But this game’s story makes it more fun to play, as well as the multiple paths. Much like Castlevania 3, Rondo of Blood also has multiple paths to a single objective. The start is defined, but the journey is up to you.

You can explore all these paths, or just go straight ahead. The boss battles and enemies also differ from path to path, meaning exploring these paths will lead to surprises. The graphics are good enough for an old game like this, but the content is still quite enjoyable.

6. Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (NDS)

Order of Ecclesia is a Castlevania game where you play as a Shanoa – a girl with magical glyphus named Dominus. In this story, the Belmonts have been long gone, and it is up to Shanoa to keep everyone safe. Order of Ecclesia returns the franchise to its roots, as well as a step in a completely different direction.

7. Super Castlevania IV (SNES)

Super Castlevania IV is a remake of the original NES Castlevania for the SNES. You play as a Belmont, and the game has you fight against Dracula’s monsters. The game opens up with the whip-wielding Bermont passing the countryside. The game has a lot of different stages, with some being monster infested forests, caves and much more.

8. Castlevania: Aria Of Sorrow (GBA)

Aria of Sorrow offers a unique twist in the Castlevania series of games. You play as an incarnation of Dracula himself – a major change. The game has a decent story where Soma and his girlfriend are sucked in a shrine, where you find out Dracula is trying to reincarnate himself through Soma. These events take place in a dark future, rather than the past, and is a first for the franchise as well.

Apart from the story, the gameplay is nice and balanced as well, with the game not being that tough, but not that easy as well. The gameplay is refined, with many levels, and a wide range of weapons. Swords, hammers, daggers, and a lot more can be equipped, with all of these being different in range and power. Soma can also absorb his enemies, and gain their power, and gains many other abilities down the road.

9. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS1)

Meanwhile, Richter has been missing all these years. The story develops more, but we won’t spoil it for you guys, so you should check it out.

The gameplay is just as amazing. You do not use a whip, but rather a sword and shield, along with other powers which Alucard inherits from his father. The game also combines many amazing aspects of other Castlevania games to make this one the thrill it is. The Action RPG of Simon’s Quest, Rondo’s controls and insane boss fights, and Castlevania 3’s platforming are all part of this game.

Buy from Amazon ($135.99)

10. Castlevania: Curse Of Darkness (PS2, Xbox)

In it, you go through a level, face the boss and get an innocent devil willing to help you. The next level would use the powers of the devil you got prior to it for completion. You can only have one devil summoned at a time, and thus adds an element of management to the game. You will be constantly switching devils to use their special abilities. There are a variety of devils; battle type devils, mage devils, healing devils, and much more.

Buy from Amazon ($168.99)

11. Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin (NDS)

Portrait of Ruins is the follow-up to Dawn of Sorrow with the same core gameplay mechanics, but with quite a bit of added elements to make this game stand out. The game stays true to its roots by maintaining the 2D side-scroller style, just like the original. The story of the game is like others, but with some new elements.

Every stage is as huge as Dracula’s castle, and every stage is tied together by Dracula’s castle. The game has you play as a Belmont, as well as his friend Charlotte, who has knowledge about magic.

You can swap between Jonathon (the Belmont) and Charlotte and use each of their strengths to complete levels. There are multiple puzzles, and many new abilities will be unlocked as you progress.

Buy from Amazon ($61.71)

12. Castlevania: Lament of Innocence (PS2)

After this, Leon sets off to the castle to face the evil forces of the castle. Lament of innocence does not have much depth to it, and neither an in-depth story, but the gameplay itself is super fun. The creatures and monsters look amazing in 3D, and the gameplay itself resembles Devil May Cry’s gameplay. The game is fast, and the action is amazing.

Buy from Amazon ($99.97)

13. Castlevania: Circle Of The Moon (GBA)

Circle of the Moon is another great Castlevania game. It stays close to the formula of Symphony of Light but adds its own elements to the mix. Dracula has risen once again, for the nth time, now. And now you must stop him. The story starts off with three people: Nathan Graves, and the father and son duo of Morris and Hugh Baldwin.

They set out to face the evil Dracula, but on the way, Morris is captured, whereas the other two are left for dead. Hugh sets out to find his father, and you are left to play as Nathan. Nathan has the famous whip, along with a range of secondary weapons to help him beat the evil forces.

As the game progresses, you are also greeted with more abilities and magical enhancements. These enhancements come in two flavors, one type is Attribute magic which adds effects to a specific action, and the other is the action magic which chooses the type of magic you choose. The game is interesting, with amazing controls, and with many items at your disposal.

Buy from Amazon ($299.99)

14. Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest (NES)

Castlevania II was the first game to try the go-anywhere style game in the Castlevania series. This was the first time you could move in any direction and go anywhere, and it was because of this game many other Castlevania games evolved. The game is interesting as there is no map and no hints to help you; you had to check every corner to progress, which made the game more fun, albeit at the cost of some confusion.

The game also had a decent story behind the gameplay. In it you play as Simon, a Belmont cursed by Dracula. So you had to resurrect Dracula and kill him all over again because of the curse. To do that, you had to collect body parts of the Dracula which are scattered all over the place.

Buy from Amazon ($22.99)

15. Castlevania Judgement (Wii)

Castlevania Judgement is completely different from every other Castlevania game on this list, as well as different from the original basis of the series. It is neither 2D nor does it require you to go and beat Dracula; instead this is a fighter game, with a 3D design. There are multiple characters, each with their own fighting style and abilities.

Azure Pricing: How To Get The Best Deal

Cloud computing fees are always complicated, but Microsoft Azure pricing is even more complex than most. The Azure cloud offers a huge array of services with a dizzying array of tiers, regions and instances available. In addition, Microsoft offers discounts on volume licensing for its largest customers, but the terms of those agreements are fairly opaque. As a result, Azure customers are paying a wide variety of different prices for the same services.

So how can organizations be sure that they are getting the best deal possible on Azure?

Protecting your company’s data is critical. Cloud storage with automated backup is scalable, flexible and provides peace of mind. Cobalt Iron’s enterprise-grade backup and recovery solution is known for its hands-free automation and reliability, at a lower cost. Cloud backup that just works.

SCHEDULE FREE CONSULT/DEMO

Experts recommend several tips.

Companies can use the calculator to try out different combinations of Azure services to find the arrangement that gives them the lowest overall costs. For example, they can see whether two smaller compute instances would be a better deal than one larger compute instance or if one storage service might be better than another.

Organizations can also use the calculator as a baseline for judging other discounts they might be able to obtain from Microsoft.

Microsoft promises its “very best prices” to large customers who have an Enterprise Agreement (EA) with the company. In order to qualify, organizations need to have 500 or more users or devices (or 250 if they are a government agency). Businesses that already have an EA for Windows, Office or other Microsoft software can add Azure to their current agreement.

If companies qualify, the savings through an EA can be significant. According to Microsoft, they range from 15 percent to 45 percent. In addition, it locks in prices for three years, and puts organizations on a predictable payment schedule.

However, the EA program is very complicated. The program guide is a full 22 pages long, and it will require someone on staff to become very familiar with all the ins and outs of Microsoft pricing if organizations want to be sure that they are getting the best bang for their buck.

For organizations not large enough for an EA, buying Azure services through a reseller might offer a better deal than buying directly from Microsoft. Through its Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) and Open Licensing programs, Microsoft offers deep Azure discounts to resellers, who in turn pass some of those savings on to their customers.

Resellers may also offer other benefits like cloud management, support or cost optimization capabilities. These services can be very valuable, particularly for smaller organizations with limited IT staff. As a result, this has become a very popular option; Microsoft says that 35 percent of Azure business comes through its partners.

Microsoft has several special offers available on Azure. First, anyone can sign up for a free accountthat comes with $200 in Azure credit. That’s insignificant for a large enterprise, but it might be enough to run your small startup for a month.

In addition, several of Microsoft’s cloud computing services, like the App Service, Machine Learning, and Azure IoT Hub services, have free tiers. Again, these probably aren’t sufficient for a large company, but they might be helpful for a smaller organization.

Developers can also get some free Azure credit if they subscribe to Visual Studio. The credits range from $50 to $150 per month depending on which version of Visual Studio customers have and whether or not they are a member of the Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN).

Microsoft Partners can get some similar benefits through the Microsoft Action Pack (MAP) program. It includes access to a variety of Microsoft software plus $100 in Azure credits each month.

Finally, Microsoft also has some special Azure benefits for startups through its BizSpark program. To qualify, a company must be less than 5 years old, be privately held and earn less than a million dollars per year. According to Microsoft, the program can include up to $120,000 worth of free Azure credits over a three-year period.

Once an organization has explored all the Azure pricing options and selected one, the job of ensuring that they are getting the best deal isn’t done.

Because of the cloud’s self-service provisioning capabilities, it’s really easy for developers to spin up a dev or test environment, use it briefly, and then forget about it. Meanwhile, the company is still being charged for that unused capacity. Shutting down unused instances—the cloud computing version of turning off the lights when you leave the room—can result in significant savings.

“Optimizing cloud usage can often save 30-45% of cloud spend, which can be as much or more as the discounts available through your Microsoft Enterprise Agreement,” said Kim Weins, vice president of marketing, RightScale.

Jeff DeVerter, Rackspace’s chief technologist for Microsoft technologies, echoes that sentiment, noting, “You should continuously pay attention to your infrastructure utilization to help ensure that you aren’t under/oversubscribed.”

The major cloud computing vendors are engaged in an ongoing price war, which results in frequent price drops. Microsoft made its most recent Azure pricing change on October 1, lowering prices on some instances anywhere from 11 percent to 50 percent.

These sorts of price changes mean that those initial calculations organizations might have done with the Azure pricing calculator at the beginning of the process are no longer valid. In order to make sure that they are still getting the best deal, businesses will need to re-run the numbers to see if it make sense to switch to different types of instances.

“Changing server types will require a migration of your app and/or data – but saving 50 percent of the cloud server cost may be worth it!” noted DeVerter.

Again, using a third-party cost optimization tool may pay off if organizations can use it to locate those kinds of savings.

In short, getting the best deal on Azure pricing is not a one-time thing. Organizations will need to be constantly re-evaluating and optimizing their usage if they want to be sure that they are getting the best value for their cloud computing expenditures.

5 Of The Best Tech

If you travel with tech gear, you know the frustration of chucking your stuff into a standard backpack. Small things like memory cards are often lost to the abyss, and pricey electronics can get scratched and damaged. Fortunately, there is a better way to travel while keeping all of your electronics intact.

1. Lifepack Solar Powered & Anti-Theft Backpack

The Lifepack by Solgaard is a backpack that doesn’t just hold your tech – it is a piece of technology. The Lifepack features a number of high-tech upgrades that you won’t find in a standard backpack. First, it has an integrated solar panel to charge a built-in power bank. There is even a USB port on the exterior of the bag so you can charge your devices while wearing it. Secondly, the Lifepack has integrated Bluetooth speakers. This means that the party goes where you go. Finally, this pack features a patented anti-theft cabling system, ensuring your stuff is safe.

As far as storage is concerned, the Lifepack has tons of interior compartments and pockets. In addition, the Lifepack also features four secret pockets. These are hidden to the naked eye and can be used to store your valuables like credit cards, cash and passport.

2. eBags Professional Slim Backpack

The eBags Professional Slim Backpack is made for people who believe there is a place for everything and everything should be in its place. This backpack features compartments tailored for specific devices and accessories. It’s perfect for those with lots of stuff who hate having to rummage through their bag to find things. To this end, there is a padded sleeve able to accommodate a 17-inch laptop. Additionally, there is a removable crush-proof “garage.” This is a container with a hardened plastic shell that is perfect for storing sensitive, fragile gear.

The eBags Professional Slim Backpack also features a side-loading design similar to that of a suitcase. This allows easy access to commonly-used items without having to open the entire bag, a lifesaver in cramped environments like public transport. Furthermore, the bag features stowable straps and a pass-through sleeve on the back, allowing users to securely attach it to the handle of their luggage.

3. Mark Ryden Anti-Theft Laptop Backpack

This backpack by Mark Ryden is one of the affordable bags on this list, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t packed with features. In addition to all of the standard pockets and compartments, this bag also opens 90 to 180 degrees, making everything easily accessible. Furthermore, it also features built-in USB ports, so you can charge your gadgets without having to open the bag.

4. Modoker Vintage Laptop Backpack

All of the backpacks listed above are great, but they all suffer from the same pitfall: they’re not particularly exciting to look at. Granted, this all boils down to individual taste, but many tech-friendly backpacks on the market all seem to adopt a sterile look, with lots of blacks and grays. Fortunately, the Modoker Vintage Laptop Backpack combines both functionality and style.

The Modoker Laptop backpack has a vintage styling for those looking to compliment their sense of fashion. However, the Modoker backpack isn’t just about looks. It features compartments dedicated for your tech gear, like a fully padded laptop sleeve capable of accommodating computers up to 15 inches. Furthermore, it features an external USB charging port, so users can top up their devices on the go.

5. Fjällräven Räven 28

This minimalist backpack from the Swedish Fjällräven, is simple and practical. It has a 28-liter capacity, divvied up between numerous compartments and pockets. There is a spot for all your tech gear, including a dedicated zippered laptop compartment. Additionally, it has a fleece-lined pocket, perfect for minimizing potential scratches on mobile phone and tablet screens.

While the Räven 28 may not be as “high tech” as some of the packs on this list, it is one of the smallest bags available. This makes it very attractive for those who travel a lot, especially those who fly. The Fjällräven Räven 28 is a great carry-on bag, as it is the perfect size to slip underneath the seat in front of you.
